Carbon Dioxide (CO2)

Forestry in the Carbon Cycle

Most of your activities unintentionaly result in the release of greenhouse gases (GHG) into the atmosphere. Typically these include Carbon Dioxide (CO2), Methane (CH4) and Nitrous Oxide (N20). Understanding your GHG inventory and options to manage these is an important first step you can take to meet your obligations.

Most organizations are now required to report to government their GHG inventory. Some are required to reduce their emissions, either directly or buy purchasing offsets. Many are taking steps to voluntarily reduce emissions in line with expected requirements. Most are finding this results in cost savings by implementing less GHG intensive practices.

Enfor provides specialty GHG services. We will help you undertake your inventory. We can advise you on ways you can reduce emissions and energy costs. We can help you determine your needs to purchase offsets, or how you might create a new revenue stream by creating GHG offsets. If you have a new GHG offset project in mind, we'll help you bring it to fruition.

Forests remove CO2 from the atmosphere, storing it in trees and soil. Some stored carbon is later used in wood products and bioenergy products, which are considered "carbon neutral". This makes forest management and the use of wood products an attractive means to offset GHG emissions. If you are a forest land owner, understanding your forest carbon budget will help you understand the carbon balance of your forest estate, and the potential for an additional revenue stream.

Our commitment to you is to find a cost effective solution that meets your carbon budget needs. Our team includes engineers, foresters, analysts, business and sustainability experts.
